THE RESIDENTIAL LIFT COMPANY

The Residential Lift Company is an Australian owned company that designed, manufactures and develops the RESiLIFT® range.  It was founded by Peter and Rosemary van Emmerik in Tasmania.

Peter, the inventor of the RESiLIFT® was the first to invent a 'Though-Floor' residential lift, pioneering affordable and retro-fitted lifts for people's homes.

Since the invention of the RESiLIFT®, over 1,500 lifts have been installed in Australian homes.  Over the years the lift design has progressed to what is now a stylish and streamlined model, one that we believe is the best on the market.

CELEBRATING OVER 1000 LIFTS!

In May 2019, we celebrated our customers, suppliers and growth with the installation of our 1000th lift. Here are some of your stories on how our lifts have impacted Australian lives.

THE INVENTOR

Peter Van Emmerik was a Hydro Engineer in the construction of dams for almost 40 years which led him to jobs around Australia and abroad.  His innovative style, coupled with his knowledge of stresses was widely recognized and sought after.

When Peter retired in 1999, he designed the first RESiLIFT® to allow people to stay in their homes.  By June 2004 the first proto-type was operating in his home in Lenah Valley, Tasmania.

The RESiLIFT design is registered under work health and safety regulations.  It was granted a patent for its unique design which has minimal impact on the home.  The lift received a high commendation from the Institute of Engineers in 2009.

Inventor & CEO : Peter and Rosemary van Emmerik

Since then Peter and his wife Rosemary set up their first commercial business together – The Residential Lift Company,  Peter as Production Manager, Rosemary as Sales Manager.  Together they have sold and installed almost 1,000 lifts throughout Australia and now have family members actively involved in the business.

Today Peter's trailblazing style continues as he is actively involved in product development of his innovation the RESiLIFT®.

Peter and Rosemary look forward to the future and passing on the family business to the next generation whilst still developing ideas and new models to meet the growing market.

Here's a short video of Peter's recent visit to Melbourne for a showroom launch party.  You can see how smooth the lift operates and the seamless design that can blend into any home environment.

Most Affordable
The RESiLIFT® is half the price of a commercial-style lift, with less building modifications and minimal ongoing maintenance than any other lift.

Safe & Easy to Use
RESiLIFT® operates with continuous pressure. The operator is in control of the journey for the whole way. The sensors, grabrail and safety shield reduces the risk of falling out. See full features here. Read full safety features.

Manufactured in Australia
RESiLIFT® was designed by an Australian for Australians. We use locally sourced parts to manufacture. This means you have local support if needed.

Quality
The key components of RESiLIFT® are made from quality products. The hoist is German Engineered and made in Australia by SEW Eurodrive. The extrusions are from Ullrich and all other components are manufactured in Tasmania.

Compact Design
The footprint for a Mirage is incredibly less than one square metre. It is the most compact residential lift on the market taking less space than a shower. We are also able customise the Miracle to fit in very small spaces.

Add Value to Your Home
Installing a RESiLIFT® will add value, convenience and safety to your home. Should you decide to sell, it increases the number of potential buyers.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Testimonials
Ken R, Mt Waverley

The whole RESILIFT experience has been an enjoyable stress free one which I have no problem at all, in highly recommending to others if queried re. same.

Stephen H, Portarlington, Miracle

The lift has been absolutely fantastic for my parents. They have been able to enjoy their lovely upstairs views and amities which otherwise would no longer be unavailable to them. My whole family appreciates the great benefit the lift has been for my parents.

Ian & Adele H, Mirage RESiLIFT owners, Carlingford, NSW

Installing this lift has made such a difference, no more piles of washing waiting to be taken downstairs or carried upstairs. It has made our house complete and it has taken no time for us to “just go by lift”. Carrying laundry upstairs was one step at a time, now the basket is in the lift and we are there. Thank you! Ian would not have been able to use the stairs now and it has made such a difference he can just “go downstairs”.

Joseph & Raj E, Mirage RESiLIFT owners, Parkville, VIC.

The complete installation was affordable as we are a retired couple. The installation of this lift was compact and has made our life comfortable and now we’re able to stay in our own Townhouse. We were very pleased with the staff including the excellent after sales service.

Ann B, Miracle RESiLIFT owner, Melbourne, VIC.

Resilift.. wonderful. I never thought it would be so fantastic. We had it installed from the garage,(where my husband spends a lot of time!) up into the laundry in the first floor living area. I used to dread going up and down the stairs. Now with the lift it is just like going into another room. With the press of a button, you cannot imagine how easy things can be, no more lugging up 25 kg bags of potting mix, no more gouging the walls bringing the ladder up. As it has a remote, my husband can put our small […]

We are just one couple, of doubtless many hundreds who have benefited from your Father’s expertise and drive to develop ResiLifts. That it is an Aussie company from Tasmania adds hugely to my admiration. Therefore, I would like you to pass on to him, my personal gratitude for his original endeavour, our satisfaction with the lift, and the service we have received from you all.

Janie and Phil R, Mirage RESiLIFT owners, Port Melbourne VIC.

We would like to thank you for the excellent work and service you provided to us when we were in a tight spot and needed an installation very quickly, due to Phil’s fall. You bent over backwards to get the lift intact, prior to his return from hospital. We have had nothing but satisfaction with the unit (even the cat likes it!) We would highly recommend your unit, installation and service to anyone considering a home lift.

Joseph E, Mirage RESiLIFT owner, Parkville, VIC.

The idea of the lift was conceived when it was proposed to Peter Van Emmerik by his son Andrew, that in view of the ageing population and the absence of a lift suitable for residential use, a market for this product would emerge and that it would provide Peter with a challenging retirement project at age 67. The options were evaluated and it was concluded that to make the lift economic and blend in with the home decor as a retro fit was to make it free standing by eliminating the enclosures and enclosure doors. It was discovered that the Australian Standards Commission had also foreseen the emerging need and had composed and issued a Standard AS 1735 part 15 to meet this need.  The “thru lift” concept was birthed at this very time. The next challenge was to have the entire lift motor, wire rope system, control boards etc. within the 300 mm high space between the cabin ceiling and the home ceiling to avoid penetrating the upper floor ceiling into the roof space. Peter set out drafting the lift on a drafting board he had purchased at a Hydro fire sale!  The prototype unit was then produced on…
