THE RESIDENTIAL LIFT COMPANY

The Residential Lift Company is an Australian owned company that designed, manufactures and develops the RESiLIFT® range.  It was founded by Peter and Rosemary van Emmerik in Tasmania.

Peter, the inventor of the RESiLIFT® was the first to invent a 'Though-Floor' residential lift, pioneering affordable and retro-fitted lifts for people's homes.

Since the invention of the RESiLIFT®, over 1,500 lifts have been installed in Australian homes.  Over the years the lift design has progressed to what is now a stylish and streamlined model, one that we believe is the best on the market.

CELEBRATING OVER 1000 LIFTS!

In May 2019, we celebrated our customers, suppliers and growth with the installation of our 1000th lift. Here are some of your stories on how our lifts have impacted Australian lives.

THE INVENTOR

Peter Van Emmerik was a Hydro Engineer in the construction of dams for almost 40 years which led him to jobs around Australia and abroad.  His innovative style, coupled with his knowledge of stresses was widely recognized and sought after.

When Peter retired in 1999, he designed the first RESiLIFT® to allow people to stay in their homes.  By June 2004 the first proto-type was operating in his home in Lenah Valley, Tasmania.

The RESiLIFT design is registered under work health and safety regulations.  It was granted a patent for its unique design which has minimal impact on the home.  The lift received a high commendation from the Institute of Engineers in 2009.

Since then Peter and his wife Rosemary set up their first commercial business together – The Residential Lift Company,  Peter as Production Manager, Rosemary as Sales Manager.  Together they have sold and installed almost 1,000 lifts throughout Australia and now have family members actively involved in the business.

Today Peter's trailblazing style continues as he is actively involved in product development of his innovation the RESiLIFT®.

Peter and Rosemary look forward to the future and passing on the family business to the next generation whilst still developing ideas and new models to meet the growing market.

Here's a short video of Peter's recent visit to Melbourne for a showroom launch party.  You can see how smooth the lift operates and the seamless design that can blend into any home environment.

Most Affordable
The RESiLIFT® is half the price of a commercial-style lift, with less building modifications and minimal ongoing maintenance than any other lift.

Safe & Easy to Use
RESiLIFT® operates with continuous pressure. The operator is in control of the journey for the whole way. The sensors, grabrail and safety shield reduces the risk of falling out. See full features here. Read full safety features.

Manufactured in Australia
RESiLIFT® was designed by an Australian for Australians. We use locally sourced parts to manufacture. This means you have local support if needed.

Quality
The key components of RESiLIFT® are made from quality products. The hoist is German Engineered and made in Australia by SEW Eurodrive. The extrusions are from Ullrich and all other components are manufactured in Tasmania.

Compact Design
The footprint for a Mirage is incredibly less than one square metre. It is the most compact residential lift on the market taking less space than a shower. We are also able customise the Miracle to fit in very small spaces.

Add Value to Your Home
Installing a RESiLIFT® will add value, convenience and safety to your home. Should you decide to sell, it increases the number of potential buyers.

Retirement is an ideal time to prepare for the next fulfilling season of our lives – and one of the most important decisions to make is whether to stay in the home you’ve grown to love, or move on. Don’t make that call until you’ve considered all the options. There are many factors that play into such a major life decision – proximity to the grandchildren, how connected you are to the local community, or even how physically challenging navigating a large house can become after a while. But one thing is for sure: you no longer have to leave your two-storey home just because of the stairs. That’s right; what may have been an insurmountable barrier for many of us a decade ago is no longer, thanks to RESiLIFT. RESiLIFT is a residential lift that can be easily installed into existing or new homes. The clever Australian design was the first of its type in the world, pioneering shaftless lifts. It allows people to live in the homes they love without breaking the bank or making a massive impact on their building structures. Louisa King, who works as an occupational therapist, says a person’s home is “often part of…

Transitioning into the next phase of retirement, there’s a crucial decision that must come first: to stay in your beloved home or start looking for other options. Thankfully RESiLIFT has given people a good reason to stay after creating the perfect solution to steep stairs and ageing joints. Whether it be carrying the laundry, suitcases or awkward objects, moving safely between floors is now possible. Architect, Jegi Jager, from CPS Project Management says “it just makes sense to incorporate a RESiLIFT into your house, whether you are renovating or designing a new home”. “Australians have to move away from this idea of single-level dwellings” he explains. “Some people associate lifts with ageing, but in 2020 that is not the case. There are many reasons you might need to use a lift, irrespective of your age. All two-level homes in the future need to provide a safe and convenient way to travel between floors.” “Land is expensive, but we need green space around our homes. It is important for our wellbeing to be able to get outside and enjoy some light and green, so the only solution is to go up.” “This is the future. I would never build or plan…

Check out the latest Home Design magazine featuring RESiLIFT®. Why should homeowners consider a home elevator? Initially associated with the aging population, residential elevators are fast becoming a lifestyle inclusion for all multi level homes. As souring land prices force developers upwards, elevators prove a safer alternative to stairs. Residential lifts are now replacing the dumb waiters being installed to take groceries from the garage to the pantry and laundry chutes previously included in luxury homes.  Many people use their elevators for commuting items that are difficult on stairs such as luggage and furniture.  Some use them for their sick/older pets, although this is rarely the primary reason for installation. Many people do not want to purchase double storey homes but with land prices cannot afford to have single storey, so installing an elevator resolves that problem. Who benefits from installing a home elevator? Nowadays architects will typically suggest at least a provision for a future lift in new build designs.    There are also a number of lifts that can be installed for existing homes, such as the RESiLIFT®. It is not just the homeowner who benefits. Because people do not have to move home, they retain their family memories and community…
